The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) is an unprecedented public safety resource that provides the public with access to sex offender data nationwide. NSOPW is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Justice and state, territorial and tribal governments, working together for the safety of adults and children. It offers a national search of registered sex offenders, allowing you to check for individuals residing near you.

 

How to Use NSOPW:

Visit the NSOPW website at https://www.nsopw.gov/. Here, you can enter an address to find registered sex offenders in that specific area. The website provides details such as the offender's name, photograph, and offense information.

 

Important Note:

It's important to be aware that not all states participate in NSOPW. If your state is not listed, you can find a dedicated search website

We did a sample search video for a RANDOM zip code in IL via www.cookcountysheriff.org/illinois-sex-offenders/, 60612 - 938 RESULTS IN THIS ONE AREA.

This same database displays schools in the area as well. We discovered IL has several databases to select – some worked, some did not. (If you find your state’s database doesn’t function correctly, do a quick google search for another.) Each informed the results may vary from the other IL offenders databases which is a clear indicator there are so many offenders, it’s become a challenge to remain consistent with exact details.
