UPDATE AS OF 11.2.25, "Sidebar Warning, Be Aware Of AI Scams & Fraud"

AI information is always evolving.  While this particular "sidebar" feature we're sharing is not related to work AI is replacing, it is relative to need to know AI information.  Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven to be very helpful in so many ways.  The concern usually is the negative matters.  Human beings receive 3 strikes so why doesn't AI, the internet, etc.?  Afterall, each are controlled by humans correct? The 3 strike article will be posted soon!

Scammers are constantly finding new methods to deceive people, and advances in generative artificial intelligence are giving them stronger tools to do it on an unprecedented scale. Since 2020, phishing and scam activity has surged by 95%, with millions of fraudulent websites appearing each month. Experts predict that by 2025, global losses from AI-driven scams could exceed $10 trillion.

Deepfake videos are becoming a big part of phishing and scams because they can make fake people or events look completely real. Scammers use deepfakes to copy someone’s face and voice.  This could include a work supervisor, a celebrity, online romance (catfishing), or even more a family member.  The deepfake video could trick people into sending money, sharing private information, or clicking dangerous links. These realistic videos make it much harder to tell what’s real and what’s fake, making scams more convincing and harder to stop.

Per the FBI, here are 3 key details to analyze if you question a video:

  • visual distortions and warping in images and video, such as unsettling silences and distorted decibels: Audio deepfakes generate delays and unnatural pauses in the process of converting the text to audio or manipulating the audio. Additionally, choppy sentences, unusual inflections, abnormal phrasing, or incongruent background noise could help spot their synthetic origins. AI-driven deepfake facial profile images can look distorted, blurred, or unsettling.

  • video inconsistencies or unnatural movement: Video deepfakes often have subtle inconsistencies or unnatural movements which do not match their subjects’ speech or facial features; denote a subject’s blinking, either too much or too little; having eyebrows that do not fit their face; hair in the wrong spots; skin that does not match their age or abnormal skin colors; and awkward head and body positioning.

  • Poor video, lighting, and audio quality: Video deepfakes tend to have unnatural shadows, colors, and lighting patterns. Deepfakes often use synthetic audio that can sound unnatural or inconsistent, such as background noise or voice pitch; listen closely to the audio to determine if it sounds authentic.

UPDATE AS OF 8.5.25,  "Work AI Is Replacing"

While some view AI as a transformative innovation, others worry it may threaten jobs in multiple sectors. In this update, we’ll share how AI could shape the future of the job market more specifically with work titles.

Data Entry Clerks

AI can process large volumes of information with greater speed and accuracy than humans. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools can extract and enter data automatically, reducing the need for human input.

Customer Support Representatives

AI chatbots and voice assistants can now resolve basic customer queries, troubleshoot common issues, and redirect more complex problems to human agents, significantly reducing the need for entry-level support roles.

Travel Agents

Online platforms and AI travel assistants can plan trips, book flights, recommend hotels, and even handle cancellations or re-bookings.

Cashiers

Self-checkout machines, AI-powered kiosks, and automated payment systems are already quickly replacing human cashiers, particularly in grocery stores and fast food outlets.

Proofreaders & Copy Editors

AI tools like Grammarly and others can now detect grammar, punctuation, and style issues in real-time. For routine or low-stakes editing.  AI can provide sufficient accuracy without human involvement.

Warehouse & Inventory Workers

Robots powered by AI, like those used by Amazon, can now sort, move, and track inventory with precision. These systems reduce errors, save time, and operate continuously without breaks.

Fast Food & Line Cooks

AI-driven kitchen robots can now handle repetitive food prep tasks like flipping burgers, frying, or assembling simple meals.  Chains are piloting such systems.

Paralegals & Legal Researchers

AI legal research tools can scan millions of documents and case files quickly, identify relevant precedents, and summarize legal texts.

Bank Tellers

ATMs, mobile banking, and AI-driven financial service platforms now handle deposits, transfers, and basic financial advice, reducing the need for in-branch human assistance.

Telemarketers

AI-driven voice systems and chatbots can handle repetitive sales pitches, customer outreach, and follow-ups with scripts that adapt to user responses, often more efficiently and consistently than humans.

If AI replaces human jobs at scale, the core issue becomes income.  Without traditional employment, how do people earn money to afford housing, food, healthcare, and other essentials?  AI doesn’t decide the future - people, policies, and priorities do.

ORIGINAL POST 2024, "Work AI Is Replacing"

ChatGPT, a powerful new AI chatbot, has taken the world by storm.  Here are researched positions AI could replace in the not so distant future.

AI's Potential to Disrupt...
Tech Jobs: AI threatens to automate tasks currently done by coders, programmers, and data analysts. Its ability to crunch numbers efficiently could lead to fewer employees needed for certain projects.

Media Jobs: Content creation roles in advertising, journalism, and technical writing could be impacted. AI excels at processing large amounts of text data, potentially making it adept at writing articles and reports. However, experts believe human judgment and creativity will remain crucial in these fields.

Legal Industry Jobs: Paralegals and legal assistants who handle tasks like legal research and summarizing information could be affected by AI's ability to analyze data and generate documents. However, human expertise will still be needed for complex legal matters.

Market Research Analysts: AI's prowess in analyzing data and identifying trends could make it a valuable tool in market research. Analyzing data and predicting marketing outcomes are tasks AI can potentially handle.

Teachers: While some worry AI could replace teachers entirely, others see it as a potential aid for lesson planning and personalized learning. The human element of teaching and fostering connections with students is irreplaceable.

Finance Jobs: Financial analysts, personal financial advisors, and similar roles that involve data analysis are susceptible to AI's ability to identify trends and make investment recommendations.

Trading and Investment Banking: AI could automate some tasks currently done by traders and investment bankers, such as modeling financial data. However, human expertise remains crucial for complex financial decisions.

Graphic Designers: AI tools like DALL-E can generate images in seconds, potentially disrupting the graphic design industry. While AI may enhance efficiency, human creativity will continue to be a valuable asset.

Accountants: Even accountants may not be immune, as AI could automate some bookkeeping and data entry tasks. However, human oversight and expertise will likely remain essential.

Customer Service: Customer service agents could be increasingly replaced by chatbots powered by AI like ChatGPT. AI's ability to answer basic questions and resolve simple issues could significantly impact this field.

The Future of Work...
While AI poses a threat to some jobs, it's important to remember that new opportunities will likely emerge. The key is to be adaptable and willing to learn new skills. Here are some takeaways:

• Upskilling is key: As AI continues to evolve, workers will need to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and develop new skillsets to remain competitive.

• Human element irreplaceable: AI cannot replicate human creativity, empathy, and critical thinking. Jobs that require these skills are likely to be safe from automation.

• Focus on collaboration: The future of work may lie in humans and AI working together. AI can handle repetitive tasks, freeing humans to focus on higher-level thinking and problem-solving.
